Lao Than mountain is part of Phin Ho village in Y Ty commune, north of Lao Cai, a province well-known for its resort town Sa Pa. Phin Ho and Y Ty have long been praised for being a heaven for cloud hunters, or people with fancy cameras having so much time to spare. As such, most attractive photos of cloud in Vietnam are taken there, or at surrounding areas of the Certainly during February-April and September-November when the weather is mild enough with less rain. But since you are on a mountain, nothing is for sure. Rain can ruin your trip anytime no matter what the forecast says.

Detailed Itineraries
Day 1: Sapa – Y Ty – Lao Than Mountain (B, L, D)
Pick up at Sa pa parking lot around 6:00 in the morning by taxi to Cat Cat View Hotel.
Time for refreshing and having breakfast at the hotel.
At 8: 00 AM transfer to Y Ty and arrive in Y Ty at 10 am. Visit around Y ty and have lunch at 11: 00 am.
At 12:30: Start hiking through the jungle rainforest along wild mountain streams. On half the way, where you can see clouds. And more clouds. Continue hiking to an elevation of about 2500 meters where we will make base camp. Local Hmong porters will start a small fire and prepare dinner. Share stories of past journeys and cultural myths under the stars before retiring for the night.
Day 2: Lao Than – Y Ty – Sapa (B, L, D)
04h30 AM: Get up and have breakfast.
5:30: We will continue our trip to conquer Lao Than Peak (2.862 m).
6h30: You will reach the top of Lao Than Peak. Clouds are there, far down the beautiful valley as seen from the peak. Taking photographs and celebrating your victory. After that, you will come back to Phin Ho village.
12: 00 . Lunch in Y ty
13:30: Transfer back to Sapa. Visit a minority village on the way.
16:00: Check in the room at Cat Cat View Hotel.
18:00 . Dinner in restaurant
22:00. Take the sleeping bus to Hanoi. End of tour (B, L, D)
